Karachi At a meeting on Thursday, senior officials of the Sindh government said that security measures for the inaugural Pakistan Super League meetings are fully in place, while the town and national stadium are being embellished.
The meeting was chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah and called to negotiate and finalize the arrangements for PSL-5 matches to commence in Karachi on 20 Feb. The meetings were held in his office. The meeting discussed security and traffic plans, beautification of the city and other arrangements. Mumtaz Shah adding that, since it made good arrangements in its previous PSL tournament, the Provincial Government had always extended full cooperation to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
"We will again decorate the city in a proper way," said the Chief Secretary, who asked to initiate embellishment arrangements under the city commissioner's control, the city administration, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the municipalities, canton boards and other relevant agencies.
“Presence of officers and staff of K-Electric, Karachi Water and
Sewerage Board and Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority should also be
ensured in the scheme,” he said.
The PCB officials said PSL would not have been able to succeed without the help of the Sindh government.
This time, as officers of the Cricket Council of Europe, Bangladesh and South Africa are coming here too, the number of foreign players and officials is far higher than before. "said a senior PCB official.
The meeting was told by additional Inspector General Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon that the International Standard Security Plan had been formulated for PSL-5 in addition to the traffic and parking schemes.
